Trim Healthy Table – Post 7: Chocolate Frisky, PB&J, and Make-It-Again Chicken

Cooking Through Trim Healthy Table Post 7

Welcome to Post 7 of my journey cooking through the Trim Healthy Table cookbook. To read the intro to this journey check out this post.

Frisky (p 472)

I’ve been making the Chocolate Fat-Stripping Frappa since the first THM book. It’s a pretty good chocolate shake/smoothie, and has provided a great FP breakfast for me many times. I finally tried this Frisky recipe just so I could review it for this blog. It’s awesome! I’ve tried both the E version with banana and the S version with peanut butter and they’re both really creamy. It’s also huge! It made all of this! I gave the second cup to my husband so he could try it, too. You can make it smaller by using fewer ice cubes, but if you’re not a big eater, or you’re doing this along with something else you will probably just need the baby Frisky.

I definitely give this recipe 5 stars. It’s a staple in my THM eating plan now.

Good Ol’ PB&J (p 301) and Speedy Chocolate Milk (p 457)

I can’t say I eat PB&J very often, but who doesn’t love a good one on occasion? This one satisfies! I made the E version using the Knock Your Sprouts Off bread that I get at Aldi. Mixing up the peanut spread wasn’t hard, and I really like the Polaner all-fruit strawberry jelly. I toasted the bread a little and included half of a banana, sliced, and it brought me back to my childhood. This is a perfect lunch option if  you have a child trying to loose a few pounds, but one sandwich probably isn’t enough for most adults. Mixing up the Speedy Chocolate Milk (using my new THM Cookies & Cream Whey instead of chocolate) to go along with it was just right, or a baby Frisky or other shake would be great, too. 🙂 It’s okay if you don’t have the THM flavored whey, the instructions in the book tell you how to make chocolate milk from scratch, too.

I give both of these recipes 5 stars. They’re quick, easy, tasty, and don’t require any fancy ingredients.

Make It Again Chicken (p 217)

I made this using bone-in breasts that I got on mark-down and had in my freezer. Honey mustard isn’t on of the flavor profiles we use much, so I wasn’t sure how this one would go over. One of the optional toppings is bacon so….duh, must include bacon.  The chicken ended up a little dry, but I can’t blame the recipe, probably have to blame the chef.  The flavor actually wasn’t bad. If you like honey mustard you should definitely give this a try.

My husband and I both give this 3 stars. It’s probably not something we’re going to make on a regular basis, but since it uses ingredients that have become pantry staples for us we might make it again when we’re searching for ideas from what we have on hand.
